About the book
Transform your supply chain expertise into strategic power by mastering the planning system, the business language, and the visual frameworks that take you from inventory to the boardroom.
Have you ever fixed a crisis no one noticed, built a plan no one credited, or explained supply chain to someone who still didn't get it?
The challenge is that we work in a world where supply chain is misunderstood and undervalued, where the people doing the most critical work in the business are the last ones invited to the strategy conversation. Everyone from junior planners to senior directors is fighting for recognition in organizations that still see supply chain as a back-office function.
The painful truth is that instead of earning the seat at the table they deserve, most supply chain professionals remain overlooked and unheard. Not because they lack expertise. But because no one ever gave them the complete system — the credibility, the financial language, the visual frameworks, and the strategic thinking — to make leadership finally listen.
It's time to change that.
In The Supply Chain Playbook, Wiley author and LinkedIn thought leader Marcia Williams opens the complete playbook she has built across nearly 20 years working with Fortune 500 companies, giving supply chain professionals the credibility, financial language, visual frameworks, and strategic thinking to go from invisible doer to trusted advisor and from inventory to the boardroom.
Their proven system will help you:
Discover why technically strong planners stay invisible and the exact system to become the most trusted voice in the room.
Master the complete planning system — demand, supply, inventory, capacity, and materials — as one connected whole.
Connect every supply chain decision to revenue, margin, and cash flow in language executives understand.
Build and lead a mature S&OP process that transforms your organization from reactive to strategic.
Use visual frameworks that make complex supply chain concepts impossible to misunderstand in any room.
Leverage AI, machine learning, and modern tools to amplify your expertise without replacing your judgment.
Go from executing plans to shaping strategy, becoming the supply chain leader your organization cannot afford to ignore.
Earn the credibility, the language, and the seat at the table your expertise has always deserved.
Turn your supply chain expertise into the competitive advantage your organization has been missing.
A Message from Marcia
I didn't start writing in a cabin surrounded by mountains. Not in an impressive New York City building with a breathtaking view.
My dad was recovering from severe complications after major surgery to remove colon cancer. Those weeks felt like living in hell. The nights were the hardest. Some nights, I wasn't waiting for the sun to rise. I was waiting for time to pass.
And during that dark season, my bridge back to the world I used to live in was LinkedIn. I started posting educational content about supply chain because supply chain was my happy place, where I had control.
The responses weren't likes. They were confessions. Recognition. Relief. Support.
Planners felt invisible. Misunderstood. Blamed unfairly, often by those who thought supply chain was only trucks, warehouses, and shipping.
That's when my mission became clear.
To make the invisible visible. To help supply chain practitioners shine and lead. To give them what they need to succeed because they are the quiet rock stars of business. To transform planning, inventory, and execution into competitive power.
This book is that system. It was written for you.
So let's get started.
